Assembling Your Terrarium

Dear Terrarium Enthusiast,

A heartfelt thank you for choosing Terrarium Kit to kickstart your journey into the lush and fascinating world of terrariums! We're thrilled to be a part of your botanical adventure and can't wait for you to witness the magic of a self-contained ecosystem thriving within the confines of glass.

Assembly Made Simple: Your Terrarium Creation Guide

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies Before you dive in, make sure you have everything you need. Your kit should include a glass container and bamboo lid, activated charcoal, soil, lava rocks, fiberglass mesh, tweezers, a leveling brush, and, of course, an assortment of carefully selected moss and plants. Lay them out on a clean surface, and let the green adventure begin!

Step 2: The Foundation - Rocks Start with an even layer of lava rocks at the bottom of your container. This provides drainage and prevents waterlogged soil. The depth of your drainage layer should be 1-2 inches.

Step 3: The Barrier - Fiberglass Mesh Take your fiberglass mesh and trace it around either the lid or base of the container so that it can be cut to size. Place your mesh into the container and use your tweezers to position it into place.

Step 4: The Filtration - Charcoal Once your fiberglass mesh is positioned into place, add a thin layer of activated charcoal to keep things fresh by absorbing impurities in the terrarium and water. Use the entire bag of charcoal.

Step 5: The Earthy Canvas - Soil Layer Now, it's time to introduce the soil. Gently spread it over the charcoal, creating a foundation for your plants. Press down lightly to ensure stability but be mindful not to compact it too much. Use your leveling brush to add character and create a unique landscape. Once done, moisten your soil a bit by spraying it with distilled water. Distilled water will keep the interior of the glass free of calcium streaks and stains. The depth of your soil layer depends on the root system of your plants. As a rule of thumb, try to aim for about 2-4 inches of soil.

Step 6: Planting Delight - Arrange Your Flora This is where the magic happens! Arrange your chosen plants, considering their sizes and growth patterns. Use your tweezers to create pockets in the soil for each plant you add to your terrarium. For the moss, press slightly on them with your tweezers to ensure they make firm contact with your moistened soil.

Step 7: The Finishing Touch - Water and Wipe Add any decorative elements of your choice like small stones, figurines, or lights. Then, give your terrarium a gentle watering with distilled water. Be cautious not to overwater; closed terrariums are self-sustaining and don't require frequent or excessive watering. Once watered, wipe away any water droplets on the sides of the container using your tweezers.
